Background: According to the 2016 Ethiopia Demographic Health Survey (EDHS), 23% of women aged 15-49 have experienced physical violence since 15, 34 % of ever-married have ever experienced physical, sexual, or emotional violence by their current husband/partner if currently married or most recent husband/partner if formerly married. Despite legislative and institutional provisions, support for the rehabilitation and reintegration of survivors of violence is still limited in Ethiopia. Women and girls still lack access to coordinated, quality essential services, and as a result, continue to be affected by the psycho-social impacts of violence, which in some cases has resulted in death by suicide or from depression.
About the project: The overall aim of the project was to enhance the capacity of different actors working on supportive service delivery for SGBV survivors at Menelik II Referral Hospital one stop center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The objectives included assessing the quality-of-service provision as per the pre-settled standards at Menelik II referral hospital one-stop center, building capacities of the main actors at the one-stop center based on the findings of the assessment and strengthening multisectoral collaboration between the different stake holders.
Results: 10 stakeholders from different sectors were sensitized on the standards, 3 comprehensive assessment tools were prepared, 20 professionals got more knowledge in the three sectors (clinical, justice and psychosocial support) and one multisectoral response model was be prepared and submitted to the one-stop center for easy referral of cases.
