Background: There are increasing efforts to mobilize the support of men and the boys in prevention and response to GBV in South Sudan. However, there have not deliberately sought to harmonize the different roles of men as duty bearers, perpetrators, and victims/survivors of GBV. Some cultural practices not only promote violence against women and men but are also detrimental to men’s health. Targeting males and youth is critical to building a generation that does not subscribe to male dominance, but promotes partnership and mutual coexistence. The change project approached SGBV prevention and response with maximum male support, capacity building SRH/GBV service providers and national systems.
About the project: The project aimed at strengthening national and community SRH/GBV services accessible to all to reduce SGBV cases in South Sudan, Juba County. The project objectives were to increase community access to SRH/GBV information and services, build capacity of health service providers and Community Health Workers (CHWs) for provision of quality SRH/GBV information and services at Juba One Stop Centre and Health Facilities in Juba County, support Juba One Stop Centre and Health Facilities for the provision of quality SRH/GBV services and contribute to national system strengthening for SRH/GBV frameworks.
Results: 114 men and boys became got more information through the package of SRH/GBV, 38 men and boys became community SGBV prevention and response promoters, 25 youth were reached with health education RHASS Clinic two while 38 were reached through the 1 community outreach.
